iMinds (previously IBBT) is an independent research institute founded by the Flemish government to stimulate ICT innovation. The iMinds team offers companies and organizations active support in research and development. It brings together university research centres, companies, authorities, and non-profit organizations to join forces on research projects. iMinds unites more than 900 researchers from numerous Flemish universities and knowledge centres. An important iMinds participation is foreseen for the iMinds Art&D program. In view of the increasing importance of the creative aspects of technology innovation, and iMinds’ belief that the development of a real and lasting competitive advantage lies in the integration of research, industry and creativity, iMinds has created the Art&D program. iMinds iLab.o will also participate in the study and development. iLab.o has extensive expertise in the creation of innovative ICT systems that are tested in Living lab environments.

This expertise makes iMinds the perfect partner to develop the innovative online interactive map and the community platform. Finally the research centreiMinds-SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, part of iMinds’ Digital Society department is leading the project. The aim of the Digital Society Research Department is to complement iMinds research with social, economic and policy insights and expertise. This includes expertise related to art in a digital age. As such, iMinds is perfectly positioned to, together with Artshare, draw from the consortium’s own knowledge and expertise in order to identify and build on existing sources of information and analysis.
